Ingredient Sourcing in Cosmetics: Why it Matters

Ingredient Sourcing in Cosmetics

Here at Dazzle Dry, we know that superior products stem from superior ingredients. That’s why we hold our ingredient sourcing to the highest standard.

The Dazzle Dry Formula

It all starts at the formulation stage. This is where our founder and chemist, Dr. Vivian Valenty, research the ingredients through extensive Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Cross-referencing these along with California Proposition 65, an annually updated list of chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm, Dr. Valenty chooses ingredients that are not only nontoxic but also not considered allergens or skin sensitizers. If she comes across an ingredient that cannot be substituted with anything more natural, Dr. Valenty makes sure that it is being used at a safe level where there is no observable adverse effect.

Certificate of Analysis

Once the formulation is set and produced, we require a certificate of analysis from our supplier to ensure that it meets the original specifications before we place the order for it. After we receive the order, our quality control department takes a sample and verifies the information on the certificate of analysis as well as other proprietary quality parameters before it is released for use in manufacturing.

We choose suppliers that carry the best quality ingredients and do our due diligence to make sure our products maintain a flawless formula from start to finish. Some might consider our measures excessive but we believe that what’s on the inside is just as important as what’s on the outside.

That’s why we use essential oils instead of irritating synthetic fragrances and refrain from using parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate, formaldehyde, DBP, toluene, camphor, animal derivatives, and animal testing. Because with your beauty and your well-being, you shouldn’t have to choose.
